Stephen Tuffen, Machine Gunner. Lost his sight while on service in the Falklands on the 28th May 1982. After reaching their rendezvous point their position was compromised by a report on the BBC world Service which meant they needed to bug out a keep moving. When they finally reached their target at Darwin/Goose Green âIt all kicked offâ Stephen became isolated in a pretty bad area and was shot in the head. It took 4/5 hours for medics to reach him. When they finally reached him and removed his helmet, part of his brain fell out. He now has tunnel vision and describes his condition as if looking through pin holes. His wartime injuries are a lifetime condition and now has gone from a wartime frontline to having his independence taken away. Pictures by Richard Cannon on Tuesday 1st November 2022
